Summer 2009!!

This summer is unlike any summer in the past few years - I'm not taking any classes! So, to fill up my time, I'm working on long-overdue projects, reading, and loving every second with the girls.
We decided to put Ella in a summer program at Montessori Children's Academy here in Elizabethtown. We were worried she would be shy and reserved, but after just four 1/2 days of "class", she loves it! She is already starting to learn new things (improving her social skills especially) and has made new friends. Chuck even went to her class to give a lesson about woodwind instruments. Unfortunately, a girl in her class mentioned the forthcoming birthday cake and celebration for herself, so the kids were gone after about 5 minutes of Chuck talking/playing.
Project 1: Cleaning UP the basement. Fortunately, this project took much less time than I anticipated and while it isn't cleaned OUT, the basement is at least cleaned UP. So, all the junk is organized, but there is still quite a bit of junk. I guess the ultimate goal would be to clean OUT all the junk and have another yard sale, but I'm happy with the neatness of the junk for now.
Project 2:
Painting our dining room floor. We are going to try to sand and paint our dining room floor ourselves. After recieving grim news from my uncle about the possibility of refinishing the floor, we've decided to go the inexpensive route for the time being and paint instead of putting down new flooring.
Project 3: Install shelving and/or bookshelves in the living room to house our book collection. I've been investigating different options for this, from built-in shelves to store-bought bookcases, and haven't come up with a definite plan as of yet. This project was initially on hold until the flooring situation was complete, but now that it looks like we won't be refinishing the living room any time soon, it may be a "GO" once again.
Project 4: Get the Louisville house RENTED! Enough said. Ideally, I would love to be rid of that hell-hole, but for now, having a reliable renter would be nice. We just bought a new stove and fridge for the place since our previous renters apparently destroyed everything they could find before taking off to "Alaska". Chuck is working on replacing locks, finishing some plumbing stuff, and cleaning up. We have a few showings in the next couple of weeks - let's hope they are fruitful.
Project 5: Read. I plan to read as many vampire trash novels as possible and anything else for which I have the time.
Project 6: Spend some quality time with the girlies and my husband before another year of school sucks me down into the trenches. :)

So goes my summer "break". :)
